Flax Seed Tea
This is a great way to reduce inflammation, benefit your gut flora and aid your digestion. This once a day tea has a power punch. Studies show that flax can contribute to a healthy heart, fight cancer, lower blood sugar, reduce inflammation, lower cholesterol and even reduce menopause symptoms. It’s also a great thing to have around during cold a flu season, it can sooth a sore throat. If you are struggling with leaky gut, irritable bowl or any other affliction that involves inflammation it’s worth it to give it a go.
It’s not hard to make and the ingredient list is short.
- 1 qt water
- 2 tbsp Whole Flaxseeds
In a sauce pan combine the water and Flax. Simmer for one hour then strain the seeds. Pour the tea into a jar and allow it to cool to room temperature before refrigerating. It will become goopy as it cools. This will be the base for your tea.
To make a cup put two tablespoons of the tea base into a cup with a tablespoon of coconut oil and cover with hot water and store. I am using this as part of my Reboot Diet so I wont be adding anything else to it. You can try adding a tea bag, honey, or a bit of juice to sweeten it up.
