Antique Jars -Gifts from the family
I have a tendency to accumulate items…baskets, scarves, jars. Anyway! God gave me Husband to balance that. My Great Aunt had given me about 200 canning jars so Husband asked that I hold off on getting more until I used the ones I had.
This is where I introduce my new family…the In-Laws. They help balance the logic:)! With simi-logic! Antique jars are not canning jars…more like home decor! Now that is my kind of logic. Envision Husband just shaking his head.
Christmas last year my Brother-In-Law gave me four antique jars. Here they are, they are so cute! Manly cute anyway…sense they are from him.
I am no jar expert but I did some google-ing and this one is from 1915-1962. The IDEAL script helps narrow it down a little but couldn’t find a lot of information on that.
These are original Atlas jars, the E-Z SEAL script confirms it. Atlas Jar Company was in business from 1902 to 1964. After looking into it I think these two jars are from the 1940’s-1950’s. They have seams and that lets us know they were produced after 1915.
He also gave me this one that I has no markings, but is equally loved.
These four jars are from 1923-1933.
She also gave me these two that are from 1910-1923!
I put the clear ones from my Brother-In-Law on top of an old record player that was once Husbands Grandparents. They are in good company next to an antique glass piece that was my Grandma Ann’s (pictured left), my Great Grandmothers meat grinder, a picture of my Dad when he was young and in the Navy, and a crystal vase my Parents gave me that was a wedding present of theirs. There is a bit of Family History sitting there.
